Give Dad the World Is your Dad the hardest person you shop for? Does your brain go on tilt as you search for the perfect gift? I’m here to give you a few ideas just to get you started.

I think these jewel-toned globes are beautiful, and you could add a card that tells him that he means the world to you.

How about a leather journal? I’ve shared several ideas for gifting journals in the past. This time have the kids draw pictures and write notes to Dad in the front of it promising weekly updates throughout the year.

Gift of Time What about a gorgeous clock for the mantel or his desk. Write a card that thanks him for the countless hours he has given to you, and tell him that with this clock comes the gift time you would like to spend with him.

My dh enjoys receiving gifts that are consumable. He loves getting candy, snack foods, music, and great books. Anything that is personalized is always a favorite . . . even a note that tells him we care!

I Love You! Our family has always shared this sign language I love you with each other. This art piece would be a constant reminder in his office  that he is loved very much.

Many dads are experts on the BBQ grill, and just like moms treasure their aprons with the kid’s handprints and names on them . . . so do dads!

Well, I hope this gets you started! Please add to the list any ideas you have. Things you have given in the past, or plan to give in the future. Who knows you might have the perfect idea in Dallas for a dad in Baltimore! You wouldn’t want him to miss out because you failed to share.

Happy Dad’s Day, Dads!!

1. I agree…dad’s are tough! Especially if they have downsized their homes…no place to put new stuff, no matter how cool! As for my hubby, the kdis and I will hand-make coupons for alone-time to enjoy his favorite hobbies: riding his Harley, fly fishing and kayaking.

2. Susan, what a great idea! I’m sure the kids love making the coupons as much as dad enjoys getting them. My niece mentioned that one year for Mom’s Day she made her mom a coupon book with coupons for some of the chores her mom hated to do. I am certain that one was well received as well!

3. Great journal ideas for gift giving. Here’s a few more:

- For a soon-to-be-married friend, I purchased a beautiul, inexpensive journal with a very intricately designed cover. On the inside pages, I pulled pertinent phrases from old magazines and decoupaged them to each page with Mod Podge. It’s a nice way to personalize a journal, while still giving the receiver some room to add their own thoughts.

- I often buy attractive small photo albums and put them aside for later use. For Father’s Day, I have put together quick and easy “Dad” photo books by pulling existing photos that we have on hand and packaging them together for a themed photo album. For instance, one year, I pulled photos from a family vacation. Another year, I pulled holiday photos and packaged them together.

Both quick and easy ways to do something creative and personal!

4. Roberta, What great ideas. I love your idea for journal gifting. I am curious, how do you keep the pages from sticking together when you use mod podge on the inside?

I am in the process of putting photo albums together for my dad and my husband with pics of our grandson. I know they will love them, and I am having so much fun getting them ready!

Thanks again for your great suggestions!!
