Ahhh, summer at the beach. It can’t be beat. Especially around the 4th of July. I enjoy cruising around to see how people have decorated for the holiday. They seem to never disappoint… billowing bunting bedecked the bungalows (there I go again) and patriotic pagentry punctuated porches (I just can’t help it). Red, white and blue everywhere. It was a joy to see!
I know, we all can’t live at the beach or display extravagant decorations, but we can at least display our flag and remember what a great country this is (even in hard times…especially in hard times).
I thought I’d post a few pictures I took of some festive forth houses.
Sorry so many (there were more), but if you’re like me, you can never get enough of decorated homes, inside or out.
I still need to put my decorations up. How do you celebrate and decorate for the 4th of July? Any special food you prepare, or special activities your community puts on? We would love to hear!
Enjoy the tour and remember
on the 4th, when your sitting in your lawn chair at the fireworks display, and the Star Spangled Banner is broadcast, that lump in your throat is the pride that shouldn’t be swallowed for this great country of ours.

Have a great 4th, and let freedom ring o’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
1. No better place to be for the Fourth than the beach is right! Although we’ll be celebrating at home (in DC, though!) with a neighborhood cookout, your great red white and blue images and sentiments towards our “land of the free” are more than welcome and a great reminder… God Bless, on this Independence Day!

2. Hi,Cathy – I noticed “hotel chic” on one of the home goods pages, but was disappointed that I couldn’t find info about some towels I recently purchased at your Gainesville,VA store. The label on the towels says Hotel Twenty One RN106002. The matching wash cloth label says Louisburg Square RN 108002 or RN106002 (I think its RN106 it could be
RN105 it’s hard to read).
anhyway, I really really would like to buy more of these uniquely designed bath towels, hand towels and wash cloths. It appears they
may have been made exclusively for the Home Good
Stores – Can you help? I sincerely thank you. donna

3. That looks so great…
I decorate some…flags in flower pots and an Americana Quilt on the sofa.
Our town here in the midwest had to cancel its fireworks display because of economy issues…but bigger cities near by will have them.
We need to do what Americans do best…adjust and push on.
Happy Fourth!

7. Hello Julie,
Love your attitude and all your cute decorating ideas for the 4th. Love your Americana quilt on your sofa. You can never have too much red, white and blue for the holiday. Sorry to hear your community had to cancel your fireworks show. You can still celebrate in a big way with friends and family.
Enjoy decorating your home. It sounds adorable and I know you’ll go all out.
Have a great 4th of July!

8. The beach would be great!! I love all the pictures, especially the two red chairs with flag pillows. I haven’t stocked up on Patriotic decorations yet, but these pictures have inspired me to do so. Maybe next year we’ll even get up and out the door early enough to make it to the local parade! Happy 4th!
