Naomi\'s Customer FindAs I was thinking about what I should write today, I was browsing through some “vintage” posts from my blog for inspiration.  I came across an interesting post I wrote in April, 2008 in response to an article on CNN.com about Americans tightening their belts.  The gist of that post was about learning good habits through hard times.

Here we are 15 months later with the same concerns.

Why am I talking about this?  Because HomeGoods customers already know how to make a big impact with less!  So pat yourself on the back!

Need proof? Check out HG Customer Finds and you’ll see what I mean (picture shown here was submitted by Naomi in Temecula, CA – she transformed her entire room with a stretch oil painting, lamps, tree and pillows!)

Just for fun, here are ten ideas on how to make a fabulous room without spending a lot.  Ok, actually it’s 9 ideas, but I was hoping you could help me with the tenth one! ;)

  1. Paint: Changing colors on walls and trim for the biggest bang for your buck.
  2. Accessories: One big dramatic wall hanging creates a focal point, or perhaps a vase of fresh flowers.
  3. Rearrange: Nothing changes a rooms perspective faster than moving things around!
  4. Linens: Updated bedding and bath towels can transform a room.
  5. Throws and Pillows: it’s like lipstick, it adds a splash of color where needed.
  6. Declutter: Got stuff? Pare down what you display to minimize a rooms hidden stress.  You and your room will breathe better!
  7. Floor: Use an area rug to define a space and add pizzazz at the same time.
  8. Lighting: Proper balance of ambient and task lighting with proper wattage.
  9. Window Treatments: Are your curtains too heaving looking? Or do they need cleaning?
  10. ???

Your turn…how have you turned a room from drab to fab without spending lots of cash?

1. I wanted to give my livingroom a little change and did not have alot of extra money so I went to Homegoods and found some really nice picture frames one in particular was 4ft it had slots for 3 8×10’s Perfect for my three grandchildren . I brought another same design and I made a collage of all the kids (I removed the mat) . I just strolled thru my digital camera and went to the drugstore and pritned some updated photos used some old ones as well . It gave the room the “Pop” I wanted and it cost all of 30 dollars . Homegoods has some awesome frmes at really good prices

3. Hi Susan! I find that sometimes it can be just a little accessory or even a different picture on the wall that can perk up a room. Of course, finding these things at HomeGoods is great because you can’t beat their prices, and I can change accessories out by the season if I wanted.

4. I am trying to create a very calm, contemporary Zen feeling in my LR/DR area and go bi-weekly to HG to find something under 20-30.00 to add to it …this week was a apple green acrylic Buddha and it is just the right touch for my entertainment center! Before that it was a beautiful glass , sculptural bowl from Italy that now holds faux green apples on my DR table ….I am always able to find something that makes me Home Goods Happy as the ad says!
