Well, we HG Bloggers have all been having great fun this week taking the Stylescope quiz on the HomeGoods website. Deb and Cathy have already shared their results and I think the quiz described them both to a “t”.
According to the quiz, a well-organized home makes me happy. This picture was one of many that came up when I Googled “elegant modern” and here’s how the quiz results described my style:
“You are an “elegant modern.” You keep up with culture, style, and trends, but have a classical appreciation for beautiful forms, simple lines, and well-made functional objects. You are inspired by good design and quality craftsmanship, and prefer the streamlined and a bit of breathing room to the overly embellished or cluttered.
Yet your home is warm and a bit glamorous, not cold or cookie-cutter modern. You like mixing in a bit of flourish: beautiful antiques, luxurious fabrics, cozy throws, and some lovely accessories that add up to a refined, inviting, well-designed home.
You value order. You feel happiest if your home is well organized. You understand that when your house is in order, your mind feels clearer. Rather than a lot of meaningless objects or overly-designed items, you are happier with a few well-placed things. Your home is your respite from a busy life. Try to avoid letting things into your home that you don’t really love.”
Gosh, see the highlighted sections? Does that sound like this professional organizer or what? I was so pleased the quiz noticed that despite my pared down style my home still has warmth and elegance. And I felt very affirmed in my choice to only have those things in my home that I really love — even if that means waiting months or years until I find it.
So, any other elegant modern folk out there? What form does this style take in your home? Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know I’m not the only one who’s clutter-free and happy ( :
