I love a great quiz, and Deborah Needleman really nailed it with her style quiz!
Now when I first took this quiz, I was ELEGANT CLASSIC – which probably best describes my current home.
But wait a minute…I don’t live alone! Is this truly my style or the compromised style built on biases and onions of my family (read as “husband”)? If left to my own preferences, how might I answer differently?
So I took it again to really get down to who I am and what my style really is, and it turns out I’m really (drum roll…) DRAMATIC MODERN. Now that’s sounds more like me!
“You keep up with culture, style, and trends, but have a classical appreciation for beautiful forms and well-made, functional objects. You are inspired by good design and quality craftsmanship, but have a sense of the theatrical and the fun. You liven things up and infuse personality into your rooms.
You like how something ornate mixes with modern, or how daring flourishes, like bold color or a wild pattern, can inject some humor and contrast to the serious, straight lines of modern pieces. You are a style leader, and your friends look to you for advice. You are not afraid of glamour. Because you embrace color, art, and elegance, your home makes a happy impact.
You value creativity. You are stylish and fun loving, and can be an inspiration to others. You have a natural sense of drama, and you know you have to be willing to take risks—whether with colors, finishes, furniture choices, or ideas—for your home to stand out. Your home can be happy and lively and the place all of your friends want to be.”
Next, I took the quiz, pretending to by my husband (well, it didn’t translate exactly, but you get the basic idea). He came out as EARTHY CASUAL.
So, it turns out that Dramatic Modern + Earthy Casual = Elegant Classic.
Who knew! Guess opposites do attract!

2. Thx Deb, You know, it’s too easy to forget your own sense of style when you’re creating a home environment to suit everyone in your household. It may not show up in my living room, but it’s still there in my vision (one day). Maybe that’s why I love to blog – its a great outlet! lol
