Totes and Purses I am a bag lady! It’s true! I love bags . . . tote bags, purses, back packs, beach bags, shopping bags, etc. My friends know of my “problem” so I have even received travel bags from other countries.

I especially like unique bags! I enjoy beautifully designed fabric bags, boiled wool bags, felt bags, nylon bags, as well as the occasional leather bag.

A great bag serves so many purposes. Of course, I carry a purse with the handfull of absolute necessities, but I often carry a larger bag in addition with all of the items I might need during the day but don’t want to carry everywhere. That bag contains my water, a book, coupons, and my to-do list. I usually take my camera along for that unexpected photo op, and once in a while I carry an extra pair of shoes because I get cranky when my feet hurt. LOL  I know people who always carry their workout gear with them just in case….

This is a great time of year to find great bargains on bags. Beach totes are on clearance, and book bags are on sale. Maybe it’s because I love them so much, but I believe they make great gifts. I like to add a great book for an avid reader, or give one to a friend who is a crafter. They are perfect for busy moms to carry the odds and ends that are needed to keep the kiddos entertained. Several friends keep one fully stocked in the car for those moments when they are stuck in traffic or waiting for a child to finish a class or practice.

Truly the list could go on and on, and I’m hoping you will enter in on the discussion with your thoughts. Come on, it’s time to confess. How many of you are “bag ladies?” It has gotten to the point at our house when I bring a new one home my dh laughs, shakes his head and says, “You really needed that one!” I smile and reply, “I did!” Because there is no such thing as too many bags for this lady!

1. Hi, my name is Susan, and I’m a bag-aholic. Whew, that takes a load off my shoulders (lol). Seriously, I’m into putting a small bag inside a larger bag - the small bag is for purse-type items like wallet, keys, etc. The larger bag is for the extra stuff like camera, reading glasses, notepad and pen, etc.

This is especially efficient when traveling.

Thx for sharing your obsession! :)

2. Hi Deb! I too am a bag lady, laying awake at night thinking up new designs and trying to figure how to technically execute. My (not particularly current) website is http://www.blinkhandbag.com My dream is to open a showroom/studio where I make bags and grow awareness re: Human Trafficking and the specific needs of women who have survived this horrible, horrible crime. It would not be for profit, but not a non-profit! That way, ladies can buy my bags and I donate the money to, say, Love146 or International Justice Mission. Or, they can donate their gently used bags and I sell them but the customer makes check out to one of these organizations that is moving to help. I am tormented to get started, and after visiting your blog just decided to “put it out there” for comment. Anyway, thanks for listening! Winnie
