Welcome to that awkward yet wonderful time of year when we don’t know what to wear or how to outfit our homes during the transitioning season.
As to what to wear…I go with thin layers than can be shucked like ears of corn as the sun gets rocking. But for the home? Wow, that’s a different challenge.
I tend to take baby steps. Here I added a decorative pillow and vase with orange sunflowers. It’s a subtle beginning into fall without a full-blown commitment or acknowledgment of the impending cold weather.
As we move towards October, I see a new mantel arrangement in my future. Any suggestions? How have you accessorized your home for the changing weather?
1. How about a couple of large pine cones. They scream fall, but it’s simple, still light, and oh so easy. The browns would accent your oranges and leather chair.

3. Seasons always bring change and I must say fall is my absolutely favourtie time of the year! Since my main pieces of furniture (sofa) are neutrals I always add color in pillows, throws, candles. I change my artwork periodically not only to update and change with the seasons, but also to keep things fresh and new. You can always add decor to your mantel. How about changing a lampshade that is a different color or texture. Texture adds so much to a rooms decor, try to vary and you will find it refreshing. I love using metal, wood or objects made from different materials I like the idea of the pine cones, put them in a very large bowl and take some of the leaves that have started to change colors and intersperse them with the pine cones, looks neat as a table setting.

5. Help! I have 2 large high windows in my living room and need some ideas on curtains. The windows are to the floor. My living room furniture is (sofa-red with accent pillows gold, turqoiuse, greenish, red) and chair with the same print as pillows. I have gold sheers at windows and added a dramatic effect that makes the sheers fall like an evening gown to the floor. But I want something else….HELP

6. Here’s a couple of shots of my fall decorations on my mantle and foyer table. I am one of those people that decorate EARLY! Can’t help myself. I start with this and add a little more each weekend. Since Tuesday is officially the first day of autumn I am planning on putting out my hale bales and scarecrows with mums (already at the stores) and then in October I’ll add pumkins (when the nights are a little cooler and days are milder). Good luck and have fun!

7. Hi, My mantle is a corner one that the previous owner put their TV on, so it’s very deep, and I can’t hang anything over it obviously either. So, i lean a seasonal appropriate picture in the back. I change the candle colors, and now in the fall, I’ll put a wooden bowl up there with some pine cones, a small bird’s nest, and some leaves, whatever I can find in nature. With tall ceilings, I’ll bring in some shoots from the grasses and put them in vases or bottles to give some height there. Of course you can always go crazy and change out pillows, chairs, curtains…..
thanks.

8. I pulled out my Fall front door wreath and probably start burning some apple scented candles.
