This is where I usually end up after a day of work, and keeping family and home up and running. It doesn’t take much to make me happy I guess. Give me my old slipcovered sofa, a few decorating magazines, my TV remote, a little snack, an afghan, and I’m a happy camper. I don’t consider this activity, inactivity a waste of time, on the contrary, it helps to revitalize, renew and recharge the batteries that propel me through my day. We all need our “down” time, that’s what makes our “up” time so productive.
It’s interesting what relaxation means to different people. Besides sofa -sitting, I enjoy a good walk around a beautiful lake where I live, or going to the beach. My husband enjoys a 50 mile bike ride with friends a few times a week (that’s relaxation??). Some friends enjoy a workout in the gym, or are avid readers,
or like crafts, sewing, cooking, decorating or gardening. Whatever you find enjoyable, after all those pesky responsibilities are taken care of, is never a waste or selfish use of time. It actually increases productivity, creativity and sense of well being so you are better able to take care of family, home and career. So, if you’re feeling a bit burnt out or
stressed out, make an appointment to visit your happy place as often as you can (just be sure to return to reality).
Where are your happy places? How do you like to relax? Love to hear!

2. I live in Fayetteville, NC. We need a HomeGoods store here. We have all the soldiers wives that love to shop, and can get nice things for a lot less. This town is growing very fast and we sure could use a Homegoods store. Please consider!!!!!

3. Hey Julie,
Ahh yes, your bed can be a happy place too. We all need a good rest to renew ourselves. The only problem with sleeping is, you don’t know how much fun you had doing it, but you sure feel better when you wake up
.
Scrapbooking is a great way to relax and be creative. I bet you have fun and enjoy that creative outlet.
Thanks so much for commenting and adding your Happy Places.
A good week back to you.

4. Hi Cathy, My happy place sounds much the same as yours! I enjoyFirst, let me tell you that I don’t ever remember leaving HomeGoods empty handed. The purchase may be for myself or as a gift, but, I must admit it’s usually for me!!! When I get home from a long day of anywhere I really enjoy slipping into my PJ’s, making a cup of tea and flopping on the sofa. Next, I turn the tv to watch any decorating show that happens to be on at the time. I am not fussy, I’ll watch reruns. Next I like to take out my pile of jewelry making mags and begin to create. Cathy, can a person have “too many” happy places? Keep up the good work.

5. Hello Lori,
No, you can never have too many happy places (as long as you don’t neglect responsibilities)! It’s great to hear how you relax much like me. Yes, those decorating shows are hard to beat on TV. It’s strange, I’m involved with decorating all day and what do I do when I get home…read decorating magazines and TV…It’s work and play I guess.
It sounds like you know how to wind-down and find your happy place.
It makes for a much happier person, doesn’t it!
Great to chat with you. Stay Happy!

6. My happy place is very similar to Lori’s. I really like watching decorating shows concerning spaces — both inside and out. Usually, there’s nothing better I’d like to watch on tv, unless it’s about painting…which leads me to my next happy place and that’s painting on canvas. This is sooo relaxing and therapeutic. Anyone who even vaguely has an interest in painting should try it…you might be surprised at what creative pieces you come up with. I’ve even created pieces using the colors of a particular room so that that art piece fits right in.

7. Hi Linda,
Although we have no plans for a HomeGoods store in Fayetteville, NC at this time, please be assured we have passed your comments onto our Real Estate Department for their review.
Thank you,
