It’s Groundhog Day, and apparently we have six more weeks of winter.
I don’t know who made up that rule, BUT…here in Connecticut, I’d be thrilled if it were only six weeks of cold, ice and snow!
The “big” December holidays are over and updating for spring is premature. Sure, we have Valentines Day, but that doesn’t last long. Our homes need a little lift NOW to help get us through til spring!
I wrote a blog post a year ago entitled Groundhog Day Decorating Ideas. Seriously! I was so distraught by the weather that I turned to the comfort of interior redesign and blogging to pull me through!
I dusted off my list and added a couple new ideas for easy ways to liven up your home in-between seasons:

- Rearrange the furniture in a room. Try angles, move accent rugs and accessories around, switch furniture between rooms for extra credit! Create a cozy reading corner or meditation space.
- Warm up those long nights with new cozy bedding.
- Fluff the bath with a new set of plush towels.
- Paint one wall a different color to create drama.
- Shake up your kitchen with a new rug, and add a splash of color at the same time.
- Add a whimsical element, such as a chalkboard wall decal to a room.
- Get a couple real, live plants. The ultimate in “going green!”
- Change a lighting fixture or two.
- Use coordinated containers to organize an space that’s been trying your last nerve!
These little updates won’t make the snow melt, but it will pull you through the longest months (weeks?) of winter!
What other ideas do you have for making it through the tweener-season (without breaking the bank)? Do share with the rest of us… we’re all in this together!
