Valentine’s Day is just 5 days away, is your bedroom ready?

Whether you want a “Romantic Room” to spend the  evening with your lover or a “Rotic  (romantic without the man)  Retreat” for yourself, here’s a Simple 5 day plan for creating that special bedroom you’ll love just in time for Valentine’s day:

Day One: Make space at one end of your room for a row of bins and mark them as follows:

-Trash

-Recycle

-Laundry

-Donate

-Returns (library books, dvd returns, store returns, items to be returned to friends family etc.)

-Important Papers

-Belongs elsewhere (in your home)

Now, pick up any items you find on your floor (except the rugs) and place them in the appropriate bin.

Day 2: Using the above bin system, clear all horizontal surfaces (dressers, nightstands, chairs, sofa’s, the bed, windowsills etc.)   Any items you are keeping in the bedroom can be placed where you want them in the room.

Day 3: Remove all the bins from your room as follows:

-Take the trash and recycling out for disposal.

-Put laundry in the laundry room

-Arrange a drop off or pick-up time for the box of donated items.

-Put the “returns” by your front door or in your car to make it easy to remember to return these items when you are out.

-Put your box of Important papers in your home office to be filed later

-Take the “belongs elsewhere” box and put each item back in the room it belongs.

Day 4: Clean  your room by dusting all furniture, lights, baseboards, window ledges etc.  Mop or vacuum the floors.

Day 5: Put fresh sheets on the bed (pure crisp white sheets are lovely), fluff up your pillows, add a vase of fresh flowers, dim the lights and add  a few votive candles and you are all set.  If you want to make it even more special, have a bottle of wine chilling, a box of chocolate truffles, put your fave love songs in a CD player or pop your favorite romantic movie in the DVD player  and scatter some rose petals over your spread.

Follow these 5 simple steps and you’ll have a beautiful Romantic Room/Rotic Retreat just in time for Valentine’s day!
