Guest Room “Must Haves”

It’s that time of year when guests appear and we want to make them feel warmly welcomed. If you’re lucky enough to have a full guest suite to pamper them, that’s wonderful (they may not leave), but many of us have guest rooms that serve many functions  (office, nursery, exercise), or, no guest room at all, just space [...]

Repurposing that Silver Tea Set

One of the most unused, inherited valuables I find in people’s homes is the silver tea set.  Gone are the days (for most of us) when a formal tea is served in our homes. So what to do with this family heirloom?
I’ve come across a few neat ideas for re-purposing your silver tea set so [...]

No-Sew Valance On A Dime

I’m back with part 2 of my previous post “No Sew Drapes On A Dime”. In that post I showed how I used sheets to make inexpensive drapery for my big window. I also had a smaller window that needed some attention, but the same long drapery would not have worked well because of lack of wall [...]

Relax

As time marches quickly towards Halloween, I realize that Thanksgiving and all the December holidays are storming in right behind it.  In our house we also have a couple birthdays in there as well.
So my advice?  Take a moment and BREATHE while you can.  Find a quiet place in your home where you can relax, [...]

Organizing Closets with Labels

It’s still warm outside, but I’ve caught the back-to-school bug and am itchin’ to organize.  ;)  I like to start by clearing out storage areas and closets FIRST, so when I fly through the house like a crazy woman, I actually have someplace to put things rather than just scooting them around the house in a chaotic fashion.
I [...]

Great Towel Storage Ideas from the Hotel Industry

Many hotel designers have come up with great ideas for storing towels in the bathroom that you can duplicate at home.  Maybe you’ve spotted some on your vacation this year?

Hanging hand towels from a towel rod mounted right below the sink is one of the emerging new trends as seen in this hotel.

I DO

As we all know, June is a popular wedding month. The weather’s nice, flowers are in bloom and romance is in the air. What’s not to love for a wedding?  Besides the happy couple, I love to look at the flowers and decorations. A weddings not a wedding without them. But flowers are more than pretty [...]
