No-Sew Valance On A Dime

I’m back with part 2 of my previous post “No Sew Drapes On A Dime”. In that post I showed how I used sheets to make inexpensive drapery for my big window. I also had a smaller window that needed some attention, but the same long drapery would not have worked well because of lack of wall [...]

Colonial Dreams

I mentioned a few weeks ago that we were making some changes around our home. A trip to Colonial Williamsburg providing our inspiration, we began in our Master Bedroom. If you look over my posts since the beginning of  HG Openhouse, you will notice that I like to redecorate our bedroom almost as often as I change [...]

No-Sew Drapes On A Dime

Well, I think I’ve sunk to  a new low on penny-pinching decorating. My sister is visiting next month and I always like to freshen things up a little. Notice that there is not a lot of clutter either. Bedrooms should be left rather simple to minimize distractions – [...]

Update a Dresser with Drawer Pulls

It may seem a small thing, and literally, I guess they are!  But merely switching out drawer pulls on an old dresser can really give it new life and better incorporate it into a new design (much cheaper than buying new furniture!).
While paint or new accessories can really change a room, it’s the little details [...]

Multifunctional Furniture

Do you ever dream about your next home? If you’re anything like me, you have a large file folder filled with floor plans and photos all ready to go! We love where we live now, but we would still like to downsize one more time and build that little colonial cottage someplace in the woods. How’s that [...]
