Happy Halloween!

The bewitching hour is near (and maybe past where you live). But, better late than never.
I wanted to post my pumpkin earlier, but he was feeling a bit under-the-weather. It seems he caught the dreaded Swine Flu and the stomach flu as well (poor thing), but he still wanted to greet all those little goblins [...]

No-Sew Valance On A Dime

I’m back with part 2 of my previous post “No Sew Drapes On A Dime”. In that post I showed how I used sheets to make inexpensive drapery for my big window. I also had a smaller window that needed some attention, but the same long drapery would not have worked well because of lack of wall [...]

No-Sew Drapes On A Dime

Well, I think I’ve sunk to  a new low on penny-pinching decorating. My sister is visiting next month and I always like to freshen things up a little. I’ve been wanting to add some drapery panels to my living room window, but put it off because of expense and indecision. But, motivation and impulsivity got the best [...]

Frightfully Fun Finds

I know you are completely organized and ready for Halloween festivities, but I’m not! My husband celebrates his birthday on Halloween, so for many years we have opted to focus on that instead of ghosts and goblins. This year I have enjoyed many of the Halloween decorations; so I began thinking a little more about [...]

Timely Photo Wall

I’ve been working with a lady who wanted some decorating help and one of her requests was to address a large wall in her open stairway. She and her husband have 4 beautiful girls and lots of family picutres.  So, instead of hanging a grouping of family pictures there, I thought I’d make it into a  functional [...]

Sweet Dreamzzzzzz Bedroom

Cool nights make me dream of cozy bedrooms.  Speaking of dreams…isn’t this teen girls’ bedroom suite dreamy?  By using 2 shades of blue and tying them together with silver star decals, this room is so serene.
Notice that there is not a lot of clutter either. Bedrooms should be left rather simple to minimize distractions – [...]

Update a Dresser with Drawer Pulls

It may seem a small thing, and literally, I guess they are!  But merely switching out drawer pulls on an old dresser can really give it new life and better incorporate it into a new design (much cheaper than buying new furniture!).
While paint or new accessories can really change a room, it’s the little details [...]

Student Ready Rooms

Here in our little corner of the world it is almost time to go back to school. Most of our students will be back in classes within the next couple of weeks. Although my own children are adults, I still like to look at photos and read articles about the various ways to decorate [...]
