Meet the Bloggers

Deb

Now that Deb’s family is grown, she can while away entire afternoons browsing for one-of-a-kind home fashions. She says, “When I find that unique piece I simply love, that I know I won’t find in anyone else’s house, and add to that a great price…. it’s a shopper’s high!” She has a special passion for colonial times, and finds inspiration for her “pretty eclectic” decorating style in magazines like Cottage Living, Country Living and Southern Living. She blogs from St. Louis.

Gram on the Go

I am soooo excited! I am in the process of packing to travel and visit my first grandchild! I would tell you that I have waited patiently for this day to arrive, but my family would be laughing hysterically in the background.
Since travel season is upon us, I thought I might share a few […]

Inside Out

From the moment we moved into this house, my dh and I were not happy with the appearance of the front porch. There was a crack in the concrete, a few stains, and lots of plain . . .

We brought these items with us when we moved. We liked them well enough. […]

Simply Early American

While visiting Colonial Williamsburg last week, my dh and I talked about our desire to build one more home. I, like Cathy, love a cottage style home. There is something about a home that is cozy and intimate that I find extremely inviting.

Like the house I shared early in the year, […]

Colonial Gardens

My dh and I just returned from a four day trip to Colonial Williamsburg. It is one of our favorite places to visit, and where we first fell in love with the simplicity of Early American decorating.
The third week in April is garden week. The boxwoods are trimmed to perfection, and […]

Floor Art

With many of us using more neutral colors for our flooring (which is a good idea if you are going to keep in mind the possible resale of your home), what are our options to keep things from getting boring? I have discovered that the use of area rugs is a way to add […]

Welcome to Our Garden

It was a glorious weekend in StL! Yeah! People smiled more, children shouted the arrival of Spring, and the smell of barbecue was in the air. Those of you who share seasonal experiences of hot summers and cold winters understand our enthusiasm. Suddenly our yards become extensions of our homes and […]

A Fresh Start

I have been out of town all week, visiting my daughter in KC. She is in the process of moving from a large house to a townhouse. As is probably true of most moves, there were a number of surprises each followed by a necessary decision.
I must admit that I was […]

Pretend You’re Visiting

I just wanted to share with you something that I try to do occasionally at my house. I go outside and enter through the front door, pretending that I am there visiting for the first time. I want the first impression to be welcoming. Don’t you?

I recently purchased this wreath and matching […]

International Flavor

My dear friend has been doing some redecorating lately. It has been so much fun to share this process with her, and now with you. They have lived in this home since the birth of their first of six children, and decided that it was time for a change.
As I have been looking […]

Inn Hospitality

While visiting our children in Chattanooga this past weekend, we had the wonderful opportunity to spend a night at the StoneFort Inn.

First of all we were greeted like family, although this was our first visit. We were there to meet our first grandchild, who was born prematurely and is busy growing in the […]

A Romantic Evening

We have had a fireplace in each of our last three homes. The last two have been without mantels. I was really hoping for a mantel this time, and occasionally I look for one to attach or stand in front. However, with the marble and the mirror, there really isn’t a great […]

New Year’s Dreams

Last Minute Gifts!

Angel or Star?
