Jen

Jen resides in the Indianapolis suburb of Fishers, Indiana and is a stay-at-home mother of two girls. With both girls now in school all day, Jen has more time to do the things she loves, like decorating, cooking, gardening, crafting and reading. Her first love is cottage style, which includes components of traditional, country and European styles. This eclectic look is simple, fresh and comfortable. Like most people, Jen decorates on a budget, pushing her creative spirit to get the most from every dollar.

Simple Holiday Decorating

I remember clearly the first time I stepped in to a HomeGoods store. I was immediately drawn to the dishes. That is the day my Transferware collection started. I buy just a few pieces every season but it is starting to accumulate and now I am the proud owner of Transferware in red, brown and [...]

I know it’s getting late but if you’re anything like me you’ll wait until the last minute to plan your table. I’m a big believer in simpler being better. This kind of look is easy to achieve for a procrastinator like me. A walk in the yard for leaves and sticks mixed with pumpkins and gourds [...]

The Autumn Home

It’s finally starting to feel like Autumn here in the Midwest. Before the winter holidays descend upon me in a great rush, I like to take the time to really enjoy the Fall season. If you are anything like me, you enjoy this time of year that brings with it the urge to bake, curl up [...]

Versatile Centerpieces

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that I like to buy things for my home that have multiple purposes. Today I thought I would show you the centerpiece on my fall table. Right now this wooden house is holding pumpkins and a black crow but I’m already looking ahead to how I can use it for other seasons. I imagine [...]

Boo Who?

In our neighborhood we have a tradition of handing out Boo Bags. It’s possible that you aren’t familiar with this concept. I know I was unprepared for it when we moved to this area 5 years ago and we found ourselves on the receiving end of a Boo’ing. The idea is to fill a container [...]

Mix and Match- Setting a Stylish Table on a Budget

Like a lot of people, I love collecting. I prefer my collections to be things that are useful as well as beautiful. Dishes and serving pieces really fit well into this category for me since I love to entertain. It’s so much fun to be able to mix and match dishes to create new looks for [...]

Budget Dining Room

These days it seems like everyone is more careful with their spending, keeping an eye on the family budget at all times. If you are anything like me, then you don’t want to let a silly little thing like a budget keep you from decorating your home. I am frugal by nature and even if it [...]

Form+Function

There is something about this time of year that has me wanting to organize every corner of my home. I never seem to get that far with it, but my intentions are always good. There are some things that I am good about keeping organized like my junk drawer, incoming mail and this baking cabinet. [...]

Looking Forward to Halloween

Here in the midwest the days are getting cooler and there is no denying that fall is in the air. I’m feeling very inspired by Halloween right now, probably because it’s my youngest daughter’s favorite holiday. She’s anxious to get the decorating underway but I find that 7 year olds and 37 year olds have [...]
