My favorite part of life is being a wife and mother of three. I am an interior design consultant for my own business, The Inspired Room. In addition to helping clients with their homes, I write extensively on design and lifestyle, including a monthly column for Christian Woman Online Magazine and weekly contributions to Blissfully Domestic online magazine where I am the Editor for the Home & Garden Channel.
I am passionate about practicing and inspiring others in what I call Authentic Living. Authentic Living is living a life that really works. It is focusing on things that are appropriate for you and the season in your life. It is about being true to your core values. It is about letting go of the pressure to live out a life that isn’t really “you.”
Living authentically gives you permission to do things differently than everyone else! I love to explore ways to live authentically — creating both a beautiful life and a beautiful home. I think life and design should go hand in hand and I enjoy weaving the two together. For me it is about the focus; I design my life first and then I create rooms that reflect, complement and inspire that life.

I think there is something especially fun about reinventing what you have in your home. While anyone can go shopping and come home with “a seasonal decoration,” by creatively re-purposing what you have each season, you can easily have a unique and charming home year round. Reinventing ordinary things doesn’t have to be complicated.

Some of my all time favorite items for entertaining and decorating are cake stands. Their usefulness never ceases to amaze me! Because I love things that can serve more than one purpose, cake stands are the perfect versatile choice for year round entertaining and decorating.

I saw a clip from The View from last week and had to laugh. The View ladies were talking about Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s experience at HomeGoods. Elisabeth shared that was thrilled to have found a great deal on Thanksgiving napkins while shopping at HomeGoods. Long story short, her husband was with her and he didn’t have [...]

Are you looking for a fun holiday project? I think there is something to be said for creating gifts and decorations by hand. Even if you are not a particularly crafty person or you feel you are short on time (ha, sounds like me!), having a simple project planned for over the holidays can [...]

I am always drawn to very simple ideas when it comes to decorating my house. I don’t seem to have the patience (or talent!) for anything complicated or time-consuming. So, today I thought I would share a few simple ideas I used around my own house last Christmas.
I really wanted the kitchen to be decorated [...]

Ever since I was little, I was in awe of homes that had more than one Christmas tree. I especially loved the idea small themed trees in entries, dining rooms, kitchens and bedrooms! In the house we live in now, we have a great big living room and each [...]

Part of the fun of holiday gift giving is shopping for something unique and special. The thrill of the hunt is what draws me into places like HomeGoods…I cannot wait to discover something new! I get frustrated if I have specific gifts in mind before I head out to shop, because invariably I cannot find [...]

If you are lucky enough to have a mantel, it is a great focal point for holiday decorating! Even if you don’t have a fireplace, these ideas can easily be applied to sideboards or shelving. It is fun to find creative ways to dress up our mantel by mixing things up and trying something new. [...]

I love setting a festive holiday table. Whether it is for Christmas brunch, an informal holiday gathering or a party for 100 people, I usually start setting up the table a few days in advance. Between ironing any linens, figuring out a centerpiece and selecting the right serving pieces, it can take me a few [...]
