This rocky coast could only be in Maine.
Summer vacations on the New England Coast–all the way from Old Saybrook, CT, up to Bar Harbor and beyond with stops at Newport, Cape Cod, Cape Anne–evoke memories for so many. Lighthouses, seagulls, digging for clams, sand castles, oysters on a half-shell, shovels and pails, and–of course–lobsters! These [...]

9. Upper Peninsula Lakehouse style.

Boats docked in a small lakeside harbor.
What a constrast! Last, we visited Laguna Beach for a bit of California laid-back coastal decor. Now, we’ve jetted north to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula poised between two of the five Great Lakes. While Laguna gets strong sun and ocean breezes, the UP has crisp nights, tall pines, sheltered inlets, [...]

6. Antigua, Caribbean holiday destination

West Indies architecture with a nod to the U.K.
The lure of the palm tree, the freshness of the sea breezes, the magic of almost constant sunshsine–the Caribbean has it all. And as the British colonized large parts of the West Indies they left a lot of their style influence behind–rice carved four-poster beds, some tea [...]

4. Summer in the Cotswold district

Hidcote, one of the famed Cotswold gardens.
One hundred miles northwest of London is a land that sometimes feels like it has been forgotten by time–the Cotswolds. Hilly and scenic with stone buildings, millstreams, sheep grazing away (the wool trade brought the Cotswolds to fame), quiet lanes and amazing gardens–those who’ve visited the Cotswolds never forget [...]
